David C. Higgs

Litigation Attorney

David Higgs is dedicated to assisting workers facing difficult issues that sometimes arise in the workplace due to misconduct by an employer. These include incidents or patterns of discrimination or harassment, retaliation, illegal pay practices, and wrongful demotion or termination. He also helps ensure that workers who engage in whistleblowing are protected from the unhappy employers they may have outed.

Employment laws are complex and sometimes counterintuitive. David strives to provide pragmatic and effective solutions, ranging from negotiated severances and settlements to representing clients in state or federal court.

Employers almost always possess far more resources to defend themselves from legal action than an employee does to assert their rights. David understands the power differential at play and finds great meaning and motivation in fighting for the underdog. He believes it is fundamental that workers are given the opportunity to exercise their full rights under the law regardless of their financial situation.

David served as a federal law clerk for the District of Oregon for nearly a decade before joining Crispin Hannon, LLC. He worked closely with Federal District Judges and Magistrates on a wide range of legal matters. David has a long history of working in public service.

After graduating from Willamette University with a degree in Philosophy, David worked for several non-profit organizations, including the Native American Youth and Family Center in Portland. He ultimately attended law school at the University of Oregon School of Law and joined the Oregon State Bar in 2011.

David was born and raised in the Portland area, where he now resides with his family. He most enjoys spending quality time with his children, partaking in outdoor activities such as hiking and running, watching movies at local theaters, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and reading just about anything, from literature, to history, to science. Perhaps against the odds, his dedication to Trailblazer fandom remains steadfast.
